EuroTrak Belgium 2025

Key findings and market insights

The latest EuroTrak Belgium 2025 survey offers valuable insights into hearing loss prevalence, hearing aid adoption rates, and the impact of hearing aids on daily life. Conducted by Anovum on behalf of EHIMA and beMedTech, the survey presents an updated view of the Belgian hearing aid market, reflecting significant trends and shifts since the previous 2021 edition.

Prevalence of hearing loss and adoption trends

According to the 2025 findings, 10.0% of the total population and 11.9% of adults (18+) report experiencing hearing loss, a slight increase from 9.4% in 2021. Additionally, 34% of the population has had a hearing test in the past five years, with most tests conducted by ENT specialists, followed by hearing aid dispensers and audiologists.

The hearing aid adoption rate has seen notable growth. In 2025, 41% of those with self-reported hearing loss use hearing aids, compared to 33.6% in 2021. This increase suggests improved accessibility, awareness, and adoption of hearing technology.

However, there might still be unmet need, as Stefanie Devos and Wim Vandenberghe from beMedTech point out: A 41% adoption rate also means that 59% of people with self-reported hearing loss still do not use hearing aids. That is why we must continue raising awareness – helping people recognise hearing loss, talk about it, and seek professional advice.

Satisfaction and usage patterns among hearing aid owners

Satisfaction with hearing aids has improved. In 2025, 84% of hearing aid users report being satisfied with their devices, a slight increase from 82% in 2021. Factors contributing to satisfaction include natural sounding, sound clarity, reliability, ease of changing battery, comfort, battery life and visibility to others.

Hearing aid usage has also increased, with owners wearing them for an average of 9.5 hours per day, compared to 8.9 hours in 2021.

High Satisfaction with hearing aid apps

The role of technology in hearing aid use continues to expand. In 2025, 47% of hearing aid owners use a hearing aid app, with 72% expressing satisfaction with app functionalities.

Social and workplace benefits of hearing aids

Hearing aids are recognized for their positive social and professional impact:

  • 70% of users feel more confident navigating urban environments due to better hearing of traffic signals for example
  • 95% of hearing aid owners state that their devices improve their quality of life in some way
  • 52% of employed individuals believe hearing aids enable them to work longer
  • Hearing aid users are at lower risk of depression and experience improved sleep quality compared to non-users

Reimbursement

85% of the participants in the survey who use hearing aids received some form of 3rd party reimbursement. On the other hand, among hard of hearing non-owners, only 39% knew whether a 3rd party such as the government or insurance would pay any part of the hearing aids.

Future outlook and market opportunities

With increasing awareness, improved accessibility, and advancing technology, the hearing aid market in Belgium is on an upward trajectory. The EuroTrak Belgium 2025 results highlight the growing acceptance of hearing aids and their role in enhancing users’ daily lives. However, addressing lingering barriers—particularly in awareness, affordability, and accessibility—remains crucial to further increasing adoption rates in the coming years.
