Hearing aid sales continue to rise as more people turn to professional hearing care
EHIMA members sold 23.16 million hearing aids worldwide in 2025, reflecting steady demand for hearing care and growing recognition of hearing health as part of overall wellbeing.
Global hearing aid sales continued to grow in 2025, according to the latest figures published by the European Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Association (EHIMA). The latest data shows that demand for hearing aids remains strong following several years of growth. EHIMA members reported global unit sales of 22.69 million in 2024, 21.81 million in 2023, and 20.25 million in 2022, underlining the continued expansion of hearing care across global markets.
The development reflects a broader shift in how hearing health is understood. Hearing loss is increasingly recognised not only as a communication issue, but as an important aspect of wellbeing, independence, social participation and healthy ageing. Dr. Stefan Zimmer, Secretary General of EHIMA, welcomed the trend, noting that the latest figures show that more people are recognising the benefits of modern hearing systems and actively making use of professional hearing care. “Hearing health is increasingly being perceived as an important part of a healthy and self-determined life,” he said.
The figures also point to the growing role of hearing care in supporting quality of life. Professionally fitted hearing solutions can help people communicate more easily, remain socially connected and participate more fully in everyday life. This is particularly important as populations age and hearing loss becomes an increasingly visible public health challenge.
Peter Karlströmer, President of EHIMA, said the continued growth was encouraging. “We are pleased to see continued growth in hearing aid adoption across global markets,” he said. “The 2025 figures reflect increasing awareness of the importance of hearing health and the positive impact that professionally fitted hearing solutions can have on quality of life, social participation, and healthy ageing.”
In Germany, the Bundesverband der Hörsysteme-Industrie reported a similar increase. Its member companies sold around 1.72 million hearing aids to the hearing care retail sector in 2025, also representing a 2.1% rise compared with the previous year.
While the latest sales figures show continued progress, they also highlight the importance of ensuring timely access to hearing care. Many people living with hearing loss still wait before seeking support, despite the availability of modern technologies and professional care pathways. Continued awareness, early identification and access to qualified hearing care professionals remain essential to helping more people benefit from better hearing.
EHIMA’s latest data reinforces a clear message: hearing health is becoming an increasingly important part of public health, healthy ageing and everyday wellbeing. As more people take steps to address hearing loss, professionally fitted hearing solutions will continue to play a central role in supporting communication, inclusion and quality of life.
